Mike Sacher

An industry veteran, Mike Sacher is a CPA with over 30 years’ experience providing services to credit unions.  Mike  has earned a national reputation for his expertise in areas such as accounting & finance, internal control, ALM and governance issues of importance to credit unions. In 2008, Mike launched his own consulting practice, Sacher Consulting, with the goal of assisting credit unions as a trusted business advisor and partner.

From August, 2001 thru July, 2008 Mike was the Partner in Charge of the Los Angeles office of McGladrey & Pullen’s National Credit Union Division, where he oversaw the delivery of audit and consulting services to over 150 credit unions annually ranging in size from $5 million to $7 billion in assets. Mike was also the Assurance Leader of the division, where he helped to resolve complex accounting and auditing matters, and led the firm’s efforts to customize the approach to credit union audits. Prior to joining McGladrey & Pullen, Mike was a senior partner in the O’Rourke Sacher & Moulton CPA firm, which was acquired by McGladrey & Pullen in July 2001.

Since 1977, Mike has participated on thousands of credit union audit engagements. Mike has also been very actively involved in consulting engagements in areas such as ALM, Accounting and Regulatory Reporting, Executive Search, Merger Analysis and Strategy, and Fraud/Bond Claim Investigations.

Mike has lectured extensively on accounting and governance related topics, at venues including:

  • NASCUS Regional Training Program
  • Various league educational seminars

In October, 2008 Mike became a member of the Board of Directors of Kaiser Federal Bank, and also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Professional Affiliations
Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Until recently he served as a member of the AICPA Credit Unions Committee, and he frequently assists this and other professional organizations who provide counsel to credit union executives.

Mike has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Accounting Concentration) from California State University, San Francisco. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1978.
